What we carry
We carry trailer tires, wheels and ready-to-bolt-on assemblies at our Zeeland lot, and we mount them here. Sizes run from 4.80-8 on small utility trailers up to 17.5 inch on heavy equipment decks, in steel mod and spoke wheels, black or silver, plus galvanized. More in the parts department.

Read the sidewall
The size is stamped into the sidewall, usually reading something like ST205/75R15. ST stands for Special Trailer, 205 is the section width in millimetres, 75 is the aspect ratio, R means radial, and 15 is the wheel diameter in inches. Copy that string exactly when you replace — on a utility trailer the difference between two neighbouring sizes is enough to change how the fender sits.Load range matters more than tread
The letter after the size is the load range, and it is the number most people never check. A loaded trailer sits far heavier on its tires than the empty trailer suggests, and a tire asked to carry more than its rating runs hot. Measuring your bolt pattern
Count the lugs first, then measure. A five lug wheel has no stud sitting opposite another, so you go from the centre of one stud to the outer edge of the stud two positions round. Four, six and eight lug wheels measure the easy way, straight across from stud centre to stud centre. Small utility trailers are usually 5 on 4.5; heavier tandem and equipment decks run 6 on 5.5 or 8 on 6.5. We stock all four patterns.Brands we carry

Our service department mounts and balances everything we sell, and can repack wheel bearings, check brakes and replace axles while the trailer is here. On most trailers around here the answer is age rather than mileage. A trailer that works four months a year will still have tread on it at ten years old, and that tire is not safe. Three to five years is the sensible replacement window for a seasonal trailer. Find the four-digit DOT code on the sidewall — first two digits the week, last two the year — and if it reads older than five, bring it in and we will take a look.
It is stamped on the tire you already have, in the form ST205/75R15. Match the whole string, not just the diameter. Check the load range letter as well, because a loaded trailer sits heavier than the empty one suggests. If the sidewall is too weathered to read — common on trailers that live outside — bring the wheel to the counter in Zeeland or send us a photo and we will work it out.
ST means Special Trailer, and the difference is sidewall stiffness. A car tire is built to flex because the car has suspension doing half the work. A trailer has none, so a passenger tire on a trailer flexes, builds heat and lets the trailer sway. At the same size an ST tire carries more and runs cooler. We do not recommend passenger tires on any trailer.
Count the lugs, then measure. Four, six and eight lug wheels measure straight across between opposite studs, centre to centre. Five lug wheels have nothing sitting opposite, so you measure from the centre of one stud to the outer edge of the stud two positions round. Most small utility trailers run 5 on 4.5. We stock that plus 5 on 5, 6 on 5.5 and 8 on 6.5.
Ask us — call before you drive over. We mount and balance anything we sell, and while the wheel is off the service department can repack bearings and check the brakes, which is worth doing on a trailer that gets backed into the water. Whether we can fit outside tires in depends on the shop that day.
